My dad and hi wife Susan are at the beginning of the yearlong or so process of fostering a guide dog. He and Susan have a 4 month or so old Black Lab puppy named Slater. He is a very good and calm puppy, but even so, Maceo is a mite bit cautious around him, especially since the dog comes up to about Maceo's armpit. Last Saturday, though, they appeared to have had a breakthrough in their relationship.
Hm. Which one is nearsighted? Which one is untrained? (I know which one is, for example, toilet trained!) I suspect that one year from now, when Slater is about to go to Guide Dog College, he and Maceo will both be much changed. It will be an exciting year for both of them, and I look forward to how their relationship blossoms as well. Then too, there is Maceo's sibling to imagine. What will his/her relationship become with Slater? Or with Maceo, for that matter? A VERY exciting year.
ReplyDeleteI do predict: Maceo and Slater will not be able to cohabit in Slater's house a year hence.
